UN urges Iran for concrete cooperation on atomic programme
Grossi urges practical and tangible measures as UN seeks to re-establish nuclear pact
The United States on Thursday issued further sanctions on Iran targeting Iranian drones including their use by Russia in the war in Ukraine.
VIENNA, March 9 (KUNA) -- The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, urged Iran on Thursday to show "concrete cooperation" with the agency through "practical and tangible measures" in order to re-establish the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the nuclear deal.
"We expect Iran, with the aim of reestablishing the JCPOA, to extend the necessary cooperation, and to take concrete cooperation steps in practical and tangible measures," he told a press conference following his meeting with Iranian officials in Tehran.
Grossi's visit to Iran comes amid ongoing negotiations between Iran and world powers in Vienna to revive the nuclear deal, which was abandoned by the United States in 2018.
